With AGXX, Heraeus offers an innovative antimicrobial technology that is highly effective against a broad spectrum of microorganisms and protects textiles and surfaces effectively and long-term against germ infestation. Under the motto “Connecting the Future”, the Techtextil trade fair in Frankfurt presents the latest innovations and technologies in the field of technical textiles. As part of the trade fair, Techtextil and Techprocess have presented the Innovation Awards, recognizing outstanding research results, products, materials and solutions from the international textile manufacturing and textile processing industry.

The AGXX technology from Heraeus Precious Metals was honored this year in the “New Technology” category. “We are delighted to receive the Techtextil & Texprocess Innovation Award 2024,” emphasized Martin Danz, Head of Antimicrobial Technologies at Heraeus Precious Metals. “With AGXX, we are making a decisive contribution to hygiene and odor prevention in a wide variety of textiles.” The award winners were selected by a jury of internationally renowned experts. They were particularly impressed by AGXX´s unique mechanism of action. This is based on a catalytic reaction of two precious metals that does not release any harmful substances into the environment. So far, the antimicrobial effectiveness against more than 130 microorganisms has been proven, including silver-resistant E. coli strains. AGXX can be easily incorporated into textiles, such as workwear in the healthcare sector. The antimicrobial effect remains consistently effective even after 100 wash cycles.

“Innovations in the textile industry enable completely new solutions for countless applications. New materials, processes and products are fueling the future of the industry. What was unthinkable yesterday is possible today - thanks to clever minds in the textile industry. We are therefore particularly pleased to honor the best ideas with the Techtextil and Texprocess Innovation Awards”, said Sabine Scharrer, Director Brand Management Technical Textiles & Textile Processing, Messe Frankfurt.
