A miniscule virus has turned our world completely upside down. The consequences of the Covid-19 pandemic are affecting people’s lives everywhere more or less fundamentally. It is encouraging to see that many companies have responded quickly, switching their production focus to protect the population. Never has it been so important to respond flexibly to change.

Technologies can help here as long as companies embrace them with an open mind. Climate experts warn that “although climate change is a less immediate threat than the virus, it is just as existential”. We all know that fighting climate change is crucial to the survival of humanity. The textile and apparel industry can and should make a meaningful contribution here.

We, at textile network, are also doing our bit as we adapt to the changing world. From this issue onwards, our international readership will be served by a compact supplement in the German print edition. You can read the articles in this edition in greater detail on our website. We are simultaneously working on other innovative, more sustainable formats. We hope you like the new textile network as much as we do.
