AW27-28 trends at Munich fabric start
From 14 to 16 July 2026, Munich fabric start will present around 650 collections at the Moc munich, accompanied by an extensive programme of keynotes, panels, trend lectures and discussions on the stage. The focus spans AI, circular economy, EPR, material innovation and creative showcases.
The stage as industry forum
The stage brings together questions that affect the entire textile value chain. Experts from industry, technology and design discuss how artificial intelligence and digitalisation are reshaping material development, what new regulatory frameworks mean for textiles, and how a workable circular economy can be achieved. The programme also covers sustainable material innovations, digital product development and the future of the textile value chain. Anniversary conversations with long-standing partners of Munich fabric start look back at three decades of the show before managing director Florian Klinder turns the spotlight to the years ahead.
First presentation of the textiles EPR report
A key highlight is the first presentation of the "System Design Report for Textiles EPR in Germany". The report was developed by Circular republic together with more than 20 stakeholders along the textile value chain. Its findings provide an exclusive insight into how extended producer responsibility for textiles may be shaped in Germany and condense concrete recommendations for policy and business, making one of the most important regulatory topics in the European textile industry more tangible.
Trend forecasts, Art and textiles and Design area
The trend lectures link broad societal developments with specific directions in colour, material and silhouette for Autumn.Winter 27-28. o/m Collective decodes the season's theme "TASTE.", Peclers paris highlights key womenswear developments, and Muchaneta ten Napel of Shape Innovate addresses the changing understanding of luxury and its impact on material development, transparency and sourcing.
The Art and textiles exhibition presents large-scale textile works by Julien Jaca and Richard Nadler alongside a video art programme featuring Jodie Mack, Kate Nartker and Greg Climer. In the Design area, the labels Fade out, Buki Akomolafe and Faible and Failure showcase sustainable materials, craftsmanship and innovative design approaches. On the second evening, Aftershow drinks mark the 30th anniversary of Munich fabric start and bring together exhibitors, visitors, partners and media representatives.
