140 years of Création Baumann
Since 1886, Création baumann has been developing textiles for interior and contract applications in Langenthal, Switzerland. Over four generations, the family owned company has grown from a small linen producer into an internationally active specialist for high quality interior and object textiles that combine design, functionality and durability.
Swiss production with integrated development
The company began as a manufacturer of linen and half linen fabrics and now positions itself as a key player in premium interior textiles. Since 1950, Création baumann has concentrated development, design, technology and production at its Langenthal site. This set up supports a high level of development dynamics and the consistent implementation of technological innovations. Philippe Baumann, who has led the company in the fourth generation since 2000, regards innovation as a question of mindset and stresses that the team continually looks at how textile solutions can enhance well being in interior spaces while systematically searching for new technological options.
From vertical blinds to acoustic systems
Création baumann has long understood textiles as an integral part of architecture. In the 1970s, its vertical blinds set new functional standards in interior design. With Sinfonia, the company introduced one of the first flame retardant fabrics with a natural look. Today, the portfolio ranges from curtain and upholstery fabrics to functional dimout articles and interior shading systems. A strong focus lies on acoustic textiles. Products such as the Acoustic Divider Vario curtain and absorber recycled acoustic panels are designed to improve room climate and concentration in open plan workspaces and other object environments.
Design, sustainability and solar control
The current hommage collection, A Love Story between Past and Future, reinterprets motifs and qualities from the company's extensive design archive in a contemporary visual language. Création baumann links this design approach with long term sustainability, based on local production, long lasting products and careful use of materials. The next project is the renewal of the comprehensive glare and heat protection collection for office buildings and private homes, aligning functional textiles with recent technological developments and architectural requirements.
