Technical fabrics for PPE in the forestry area

Getzner Textil AG is currently establishing itself as a solution partner in the area of personal protective equipment for forestry workers with several new developments. The technical fabrics are more robust than comparable standard products.

In the past year, it has been possible to achieve positive results through the development of a dedicated test for forestry materials: “We noticed that the actual conditions in the forestry area pose far greater challenges for the material than the standardised tests can reflect. At Getzner Textil, we have managed to realistically simulate the respective defect patterns and to develop a fabric on the basis of the test results that withstands these difficult conditions,” says Getzner Textil product manager Daniela Salzgeber. The Austrian company’s portfolio already included technical fabrics for hunting and forestry PPE in the past. The fabric’s now improved properties far exceed the ISO norms for fuzzing, pilling and snagging.

A further new development is the ability to dye the Vectran fibres in cut-resistant fabrics. Again, this reflects the excellence of the in-house research and development work. With the current solution, Getzner Textil is creating new possibilities with regard to product design and product properties. In addition, the durability of the yarn has been improved in order to increase the material’s life span. “As a specialist for technical textiles with a varied product range, Getzner Textil follows a systematic approach in its research into the latest trends and innovations. We intend to continuously improve the already existing products in our portfolio. Thanks to our many years of experience, as well as our in-house laboratory and our development centre, we can offer our customers individualised solutions,” says Getzner Textil CEO Roland Comploj.
