The textile industry is facing unparalleled challenges. Disruptive forces like Artificial Intelligence, digitization, Globalization 4.0, and decarbonization – combined with rapidly evolving consumer behaviors – are reshaping the industry landscape. Traditional business models are under siege, and survival depends on bold, forward-thinking transformation.

MOON 2.0, launched in 2024, addresses these challenges head-on by going beyond the surface-level solutions of technology and financing. The program centers on redefining business models and processes, enabling companies to reimagine their value streams and organizational structures to meet the demands of tomorrow. At the core lies a critical question: How can companies adapt their processes and organizational culture to remain competitive while securing jobs and delivering sustainable growth?

Collaboration as the engine for change

The power of MOON 2.0 lies in its collaborative DNA. Eight leading companies from Germany, Austria, and Switzerland partnered with nine universities and training institutions to bridge the gap between academic knowledge and industry expertise. Adding to this foundation, futurist Dr. Michael Gebert, a thought leader in megatrends and strategic foresight, provided invaluable insights into the long-term transformation potential of businesses. His guidance illuminated the path for companies to navigate the complex challenges of a globalized and decarbonized world.

Complementing this effort, the strategic specialists at Positioning.at played a pivotal role in helping businesses refine their market positioning and develop compelling strategies to stay relevant in a fiercely competitive landscape. This combination of academic rigor, industry expertise, and strategic foresight made MOON 2.0 a truly unique initiative.

A vision for MOON 3.0

The foundation of MOON 2.0 was laid by its predecessor, MOON 1.0, launched in 2022 in collaboration with AFBW (Alliance for Fiber-Based Materials Baden-Württemberg) and Gherzi. The first phase introduced a robust toolkit designed to help companies manage complex transformation processes. Building on these successes, MOON 2.0 expanded its focus to prioritize the holistic transformation of business models and processes, ensuring that technology and financing are aligned with deeper, structural change.

As MOON 2.0 concludes, the next chapter begins. MOON 3.0 will focus on implementing the strategies developed in earlier phases, embedding transformation into the daily operations of businesses. This phase will emphasize creating sustainable, long-term success by aligning technology, processes, and organizational culture with the realities of a rapidly changing world.
