Many roles, one clothing concept

Grid technicians, maintenance teams, field staff, office functions: equipping a large energy company rarely comes with a single requirement. Fristads positions its offering for the energy industry around a multi-norm approach. Instead of looking at individual products for individual tasks, the Swedish workwear manufacturer aims to cover multiple certifications for hazard areas within one garment. The range cited includes certified high-visibility clothing, flame protection and electric arc protection, weather protection for outdoor assignments, and durable workwear for maintenance and operations.

A key element is the ability to combine certified garments as layers. Fristads states that the air gap between layers provides improved insulation and better protection. For electric arc protection, the company describes an established layering system in which the garments have been tested and certified in combination. In that configuration, higher protection values in the open arc test (ELIM/ATPV) and the box test (APC) are reported than with the individual garments.

Fit as a safety factor

A second focus is multi-norm clothing in women’s fits. Fristads notes that the proportion of women in technical and manual roles is still comparatively low, but is growing steadily. For larger companies in the energy sector, even a small number of female employees means suitable protective clothing needs to be available. Where the same tasks are performed under the same hazard conditions, the same level of protection is required regardless of gender, but not necessarily the same cut.

Fristads emphasises that, for personal protective equipment, fit is more than comfort. Sleeves or trouser legs that are too long, poorly positioned knee zones, or a cut that restricts movement can become a safety risk in daily work. Simply choosing a smaller men’s size is therefore not automatically the right solution.

Within the Flame and Flamestat product families, Fristads offers women’s multi-norm garments, including jackets, trousers, tops and underwear. These items are designed to be worn as a coordinated protection system.

Organisation, care, sustainability

Beyond the garments themselves, Fristads points to digital ordering via a central webshop, including flexible permissions, cost centres and budgets. It also lists value-added services such as logo application (print or embroidery), labelling, packaging and individual handling. A specialised logistics solution is intended to ensure availability at the right time, with full traceability and sustainable processes.

For extending service life, Fristads refers to certifications after 50 wash cycles. Its Repair-Reuse-Recycle programme is presented as a way to give workwear a second life, reduce purchasing volume and cut waste. For products with an Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) made from more sustainable materials, Fristads says lower environmental impacts are transparently documented through objective, third-party verified data.
