Adding momentum to the green movement
Yarn Expo Autumn 2024 is a sourcing platform for both exhibitors and visitors, facilitating access to expanding market opportunities; this year, it will feature a diverse array of functional yarn and fiber exhibitors, alongside other suppliers from China and abroad, from August 27th to 29th, at the National Exhibition and Convention Center in Shanghai.

The event targets high-demand sectors such as sports, healthcare, and automotive [1], [2]; highlighting the rising global interest in functional yarns and fibers with properties including anti-bacterial, UV protective, and moisture-wicking capabilities. Renowned for its Asian prominence and international reach, the expo also provides a platform to showcase high-performance, eco-friendly products.
Notable exhibitors include Shaoxing Guozhou Textile New Material (China), Thai Acrylic Fibre (Thailand), The Movement B.V. (Neatherlands), and Wai Hing Trading (Hong Kong, China), all of whom emphasize sustainablility and hold certifications like Oeko-Tex and GOTS. Concurrently held with Intertextile Shanghai Apparel Fabrics, CHIC, and PH Value, the expo facilitates extensive business networking and promotes the integration of sustainable practices within the textile industry.
Speaking from his booth at the previous Autumn Edition, Tatsuo Usui, Manager of the Performance Fibre & Materials Department from MN Inter-Fashion Ltd, Japan, said: “This exhibition in China is booming, and the visitor flow is good. Our company policy is that products should be safe, comfortable, and sustainable. We are showcasing yarns for flame retardant, protective layers, including viscose products and our newly developed specialised bio-based fibres. Other booths are also displaying sustainable and recycled options; therefore, customers can select the products that most fit their desired application and market requirements.”
Organized by Messe Frankfurt (HK) Ltd and the Sub-Council of Textile Industry, CCPIT, the fair underscores the importance of sustainable production in contemporary textile manufacturing.
