Innatex highlights market shifts

Growing complexity in markets and communication is shaping the industry. The trade show illustrated how brands and retailers are reassessing processes to stay adaptable.

The 57th edition of Innatex demonstrated how strongly the sector is affected by rising expectations and increasingly fragmented market conditions. Both brands and retailers pointed to demands that influence communication structures and operational workflows. With only brief touchpoints available to convince buyers, sharpening positioning and improving process efficiency is becoming essential.

Cooperation as a structural tool

A central feature this year was the newly introduced Evolution Stage, curated by designer Jonathan Radetz. The concept brings product presentation together with strategic considerations on transformation and resilience. Radetz emphasised that sustainable fashion must distance itself from fast fashion mechanisms if it aims to remain competitive. Bringing industry players into one space creates opportunities to explore approaches that would otherwise be difficult to realise.

Long term development as a deciding factor

Speakers underlined that ongoing resource investment is crucial for operating in a dynamic market. The discussion programme made the extent of current disruption visible, while also outlining concrete levers. AI supported sales applications, design processes that look beyond short term trends and longevity as a strategic metric were repeatedly cited. Clear goal setting was presented as a prerequisite for managing the consequences of strategic decisions.

Product tendencies favour versatility

Market feedback shared at Innatex showed decreasing interest in narrowly defined categories such as occasionwear, classic business attire or pure loungewear. Multi purpose styles suitable for everyday, business or leisure contexts are gaining relevance. For Autumn/Winter 2026/2027, combinations and layering solutions are expected to play a stronger role, while bold statements and expressive prints address consumer demand for differentiation. Polyester free functional fabrics align with the ongoing interest in fitness and wellness.

Upcoming dates

The Innatex Showroom in Bern will conclude the order cycle on 22 and 23 February 2026. The next main edition is scheduled for 18 to 20 July 2026.
