Lycra expands into the workwear sector
The Lycra Company looks back on over 60 years of innovation in the field of performance fibres and now offers its range of fibres and technologies for workwear too – for a new generation of workwear.
Companies and employees are demanding more from their workwear. What they need is workwear that performs, with fibres that do more than conventional materials. Lycra's fibres are developed from recycled PET bottles and textile waste, supporting the circular economy and helping to reduce the environmental impact of clothing.
High-quality equipment for professional users
Kitchen staff, warehouse workers, postal workers, medical staff and many more – comfortable and durable clothing is crucial in many professions. High-quality fabrics ensure comfort and a dry feeling. The Lycra “T400” fibre has been developed to offer comfortable stretch without compromising on durability. The fibre also retains its stretch and rebound properties for longer, making it ideal for workwear that requires both comfort and durability. In addition, the “T400” fibre offers excellent shape retention, so that garments retain their fit and appearance even after prolonged use. Furthermore, the fibre is industrial laundry resistant (according to ISO 15797), making it durable and long-lasting, and ensuring breathable, quick-drying fabrics. It is also GRS certified and can be recycled into new polyester fibres using the correct process.
Fibre solutions for demanding requirements
In today's demanding working environments, workwear must offer more than just durability and protection – it should also improve thermal comfort. “Coolmax EcoMade” fibre technology is known for its permanent moisture-wicking properties, which are due to the structure of the fibre. This fibre technology is an innovative solution that ensures that wearers of workwear stay cool, dry and comfortable throughout their working day. The specially developed fibre wicks sweat away from the body to the outer layer of fabric, where it dries quickly, keeping the wearer cool and dry. This property does not wash out, even with industrial laundering (tested according to ISO 15797). The fibre is made from 100% recycled material and can be recycled into new polyester using any standard polyester recycling process.
The “Thermolite EcoMade” fibre technology is an innovative insulation system that uses hollow fibres to provide lightweight warmth. Made from recycled raw materials, these fibres form an insulating layer that helps maintain body heat in cold environments without the need for thick clothing. The result is outstanding thermal performance with low weight, which is particularly useful in workwear, where mobility and heat regulation are crucial.
The “Lycra Adaptive” fibre technology offers a fibre that dynamically adapts to the movements and body shape of the wearer – for a tailored fit at rest and unrestricted freedom of movement and a wider range of fit during movement. This adaptability makes it ideal for workwear, where comfort and fit are paramount.
