Innovation hubs in Coats' ESC network

On 9 July 2026 in Aichi, Coats Group plc and Tajima Industries Ltd. signed a Memorandum of Strategic Cooperation. The agreement targets higher quality and faster innovation across the global embroidery industry. Coats' international network of Embroidery Service Centres will act as the backbone of the partnership and will be equipped with Tajima technology platforms for co creation, technical testing and training.

These centres are designed as practical environments where brands and manufacturers can work with Coats specialists and Tajima systems on real embroidery challenges. According to Coats, the focus is on quality and consistency in a premium segment where embroidery plays a visible role in protecting brand value and product appearance.

Combining threads, machinery and software

At the core of the joint offer are high performance Coats embroidery threads and technical advisory services combined with Tajima's machinery and digital solutions. This includes i TM and DCP technologies together with PulseID, Pulse IQ and DG software platforms. The aim is to help embroidery operations raise productivity, enhance quality and handle complex designs at scale.

The collaboration also draws on Coats innovation in circular materials, such as 100 percent recycled polyester threads and its textile to textile technology. The partnership extends across apparel and footwear applications, underlining the role of embroidery as a high value, technical component in product design and brand differentiation and the demand for integrated solutions that deliver consistent results.

Coats is a world leading Tier 2 manufacturer for the apparel and footwear industries, headquartered in the UK and listed in the ftse 250 index. In 2025 the company generated 1.5 billion US dollars in revenue and employed around 19,000 people. Tajima, founded in 1944 in Japan, is a pioneer in embroidery machinery and has introduced AI equipped systems and software capabilities that now reach into sectors including automotive and aerospace.
