Zeefier creates 100% natural textile dyes from seaweed, sustainably sourcing raw materials from European sea farms, coastal wash-ups, and industrial side streams. Free of freshwater, pesticides and harsh chemicals, the dyes can be easily integrated into existing dye-house equipment and are compatible with cotton, wool, silk and linen, and viscose fabrics. After use, they biodegrade naturally, no toxins left behind.
Founded by seaweed researcher and creative Nienke Hoogvliet and entrepreneur Anne Boermans, the teams’ combined expertise in science, textiles, and business is united by a shared commitment to the environment. Zeefier’s plug-and-play formula and designs earned the 2025 Green Concept Award in Berlin, demonstrating how eco-innovation can still meet high quality standards.
Building on its initial growth in the European market, the company has begun to release its new sustainably dyed rugs, carpets, and beanies, now available for purchase. Every batch is fully traceable to its seaweed origin, ensuring transparency and natural dyes are the new standard.
Aligned with the EU’s 2030 textile strategy and the UN Sustainable Development Goals for clean water, responsible production and healthy ecosystems, Zeefier helps brands cut water pollution and lower carbon emissions. By transforming seaweed into vibrant, eco-friendly dyes, the company offers a straightforward path to more sustainable textiles.
