Texworld New York staged virtually

The organizer of the Texworld New York City decided to hold a virtual show from January 25–27, 2022, because of the nationwide increase in Covid variant cases.

The textile and apparel industry had hoped that the winter 2022 edition of the textile trade fair Texworld New York City, organized jointly with the Apparel Sourcing New York City, would be held as an “in-person” event from January 25–27, 2022. However, the organizer decided to hold, instead, a virtual show.

In a statement, Messe Frankfurt, the show’s organizer, explained the reasons for holding a virtual show: “After careful consideration regarding the increased concerns surrounding Covid-19 as well as New York State regulations, we have made the difficult decision to cancel the winter 2022 edition in-person segment of Texworld New York City and Apparel Sourcing New York City in lieu of the physical event.”

Messe Frankfurt said that the high level of international participation, increasing travel restrictions, and the rising number of Covid-19 variant cases had led to a significant deterioration in the general conditions for holding the in-person shows. “Our primary concern is always the responsibility we feel towards our exhibitors, partners, attendees, and staff,” said Jennifer Bacon, Messe Frankfurt’s show director, fashion and apparel.

The textile and apparel trade will be waiting to see if the summer edition of the Texworld and the Apparel Sourcing New York City 2022, scheduled to take place from July 19–21, 2022, in New York City, would be an “in person” show.
