Trützschler`s “IDF 3”

The Integrated Draw Frame third generation (“IDF 3”) was presented to visitors at the ITMA in Milan. The “IDF” has been part of the Trützschler portfolio for many years, delivering valuable performance improvements for customers worldwide. The “IDF 3” offers a range of features that give customers better handling, quality, faster can change times, and improved productivity.

Jörg Schmitz, Senior Expert R&D Spinning Preparation at Trützschler Spinning, said: “As a result, the IDF is a key part of our product range today. Two generations of this machine have already delivered valuable performance improvements for our spinning customers worldwide. And our innovators have now successfully created the third generation: The new integrated draw frame IDF 3.” This maschine comes with several advantages.

In terms of quality

Trützschler’s technical experts added components and features from other areas of their draw frame portfolio, resulting in more homogenous slivers and higher yarn quality. Operating without compressed air also results in a reduction in operating costs. Additionally, the “IDF 3” makeover comes with a full redesign of the drawing zone in line with all Trützschler drafting methods. This further stabilises the drafting process and improves the yarn imperfection total IPI for recycled fibers and raw cotton, while also blending with synthetics. Yarn durability and elongation are also enhanced.

Time Savings

Three components: card, “IDF”, and can changer need to be optimally balanced, especially for the direct spinning process with small can sizes. Replacing a full can with an empty one, slows down the production process because the delivery speed of the card and “IDF” needs to be reduced. After the optimaziation of the can changer, the delivery speed of the “IDF 3” stays at the high level of 300 m/min during can changes, which increases efficiency by 3%.

Easy to operate

The “IDF 3” is designed to open directly towards the operator. This makes it easy to reach all of the adjustment points within the working area. Operators do not need to open the drafting unit thanks to its quick start function, which saves up to 60 sec during each piecing event. This time savings quickly adds up to an increase in productivity. The “IDF 3” also comes with an easy-to-reach digital pressure manometer. This makes it possible to precisely set the pressure and directly monitor limits on the drafting system via the display screen. Handling can be further improved by adding other features like “T-LED”, “Smart Touch”, and “RFID” from Trützschler.
